Just got my Echo!
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:53:41 am »

 Hey Guys!

Got my Echo a few days ago. Two things....

She keeps updating. At least that is what I think it is. The light is spinning greenish blue for hours.

Also ~ Alexa fails to set alarms. She says "alarm set" But never does it work.

Also ~ she will not set the alarm off. She states she has set it but it never goes off.  Also she states she is reading my book, but you hear nothing.

I think the first thing to do is to unplug it, wait 20 seconds or so, and then plug it back in.  Does it work better now?

If not, my guess is you have the Echo placed in a weak Wi-Fi signal area of your home.  Place it closer to the router.

If still having problems . . . . .

You are entitled to free phone support from Amazon, so use it!

From an Amazon email: “You can reach Amazon Echo Customer Support by phone directly and toll-free at 1-877-375-9365. We're available from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific time, seven days a week.”

Have you gone through the complete swtup theough the app?
Have you confirmed it is properly connected to your WiFi?
If yes to the above -wha spent the App show you when you set an alarm?

In order to it update uou have to press the Mike button (ring turns red) and leave it for minimum 30 minutes.

Cheers,
Alex

Personally think the reset procedure is better left for Amazon support to suggest once the OP gets in touch with them and support suggests doing this after checking other things.  Problem does not appear to need this step.
