Amazon Alexa
« on: May 21, 2019, 07:12:45 pm »
I'm new here so please bear with me. A friend gave me his Amazon Alexa & Amazon Dot. I got the Echo Dot online but Alexa  refuses to go online. The app instructions don't match the app. How do I get Alexa online, thanks :)

Use the website instead of the app. https://alexa.amazon.com

Forgot to ask what you mean by Amazon Alexa? I know you got a dot, but what is the other device? i.e. Echo, Echo Show, Tap, etc.

My Amazon Alexa is about 9 1/2 " tall. Echo Dot has 4 buttons on its top, I think 3rd generation.

So your "Amazon Alexa" sounds like it is actually an Amazon Echo. So you to the website, settings, select set up a device, choose Echo and follow instructions.

If you can't get it connected, it may be that your friend forgot to remove the echo from his account. You could ask him to double check this.

make sure your friend de-register those devices from their account.   until that is done, they will not connect.

Would resetting either or both work ? :)

You could try re-setting it, but I"m not sure what would happen. Having it deregistered by your friend is probably the best approach.

should not have to reset since you cannot set it up unless it is registered to your account.    but if you still have problems with it once it is registered to your account, then yes, reset it too.

Is this how to de-register it https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+de+register+alexa&oq=how+to+de+register+alexa&aqs=chrome..69i57.22843j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
