Incoming Call not detected by Alexa

HI...Total newbie here.....Just got the Echo from my son and installed it and installed the app on my android.  Loaded  Contacts too.  Can make outgoing call by talking to Alexa but alexa is not recognizing when a call comes in.  I say Alexa  Answer as the cell is ringing but alexa says no call coming in. Alexa and Cell are paired.  Can anybody  tell me what to check.....Many Thanks

are you talking about receiving regular phone calls or alexa to alexa  calling?
