Playing music in stereo using two echo dots (3rd gen)
« on: December 25, 2018, 04:42:57 pm »
Hi. I have had one dot set  up for several weeks but would like to add a second so that I can hear my music in stereo. So far, I have not been able to find a YouTube video explaining how to do this when one of the dots is already set up for regular use. Can anyone direct me to a full set of instructions regarding how to do this? Also, I am playing my music using music in my own iTunes library . . . not from a subscription music service. Instead, I am using "My Media for Alexa" to send my own music to the speakers. Has anyone had any success using "My Media" to play stereo through two Echos?

Do you mean stereo as in, one plays right speaker output, the other plays left speaker? Or just playing the same stream to both devices?

Under  "Things to try" in the app (mine is android)  there is an option Multi-Room Music.  Set it up there.  I didn't have issue.  And like previous poster said, it's not stereo, it's just same music playing on both.

There is an option for a stereo pair but in my app it's greyed out. Maybe I don't have any of the latest echo's that qualify?

looks like you need latest Echos. 3rd Gen Dots qualify. 1st gen show or Spot doesn't, beither does 2nd gen Dot. I don't know about other equipment, I don't have any straight Echos.
This weekend I will try to set up my Dots in stereo to see if it's worth it.
