Spotify not suported
« on: November 27, 2018, 10:15:23 am »
I'm aware that Spotify is supported by my Echo 2nd Gen, but despite having set up my Spotify account in the Echo App Alexa says Spotify is not supported on the device when I try to get it to play music on Spotify.

My Spotify account is the free version and I don't to commit to the paid for service unless I can be sure it will work.

Any ideas why it does'nt work for me?

Because you don't have the paid version...

Alexa will only work with spotify premium.

Thanks for that information.

Strangely, the Echo response has now changed to "Your Spotify account doesn't support streaming on this device and reminders are now accepted whereas before they weren't.

I'll put it down to a temporary glitch

are you already streaming on other devices?  there could be a limited on the number of devices it is activated on.

Cool. That's brand new though, might not be supported yet by all devices.

No. I have done very little music streaming in recent years. I'm resurrecting my Spotify account to compare it against Amazon Music that comes with the Amazon Prime subscription, simple because I have just bought the Echo and want to get back into music streaming.

Until now I've had Classic FM or Smooth Radio playing in background but the Echo gives you control over what's playing.
