Echo TAP only does voice recognition if you do training on a different device.

The Tap will support voice/speaker recognition, but ONLY if you have a non-tap device with which you do the training.  This is contrary to the documentation in:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201601940

Apparently the Tap is a poor cousin to the rest of the devices, but I love carrying the top with me around the house to have my music in the house.  In the car, I link to my mobile phone hotspot and have voice activation of the podcasts I want to hear while driving.

I wish that the Tap software would merge source trees with the other Echo devices to enable the features inherent in other, cheaper devices (e.g. alternate wake word).

I speak to my Tap the same as I do for a Dot or Echo.

Never did any voice training and it works just fine.

I hate a Echo 2 and a Tap.  The Tap is NOT an ECHO device.

For whatever reason the Tap is a forgotten stepchild. Sad.
