Connecting to Hotel WiFi with Login Page
« on: November 12, 2017, 12:06:26 am »
Hi,

I'm a bit of a gypsy at the moment, just staying in a series of hotels. The hotel I'm in now has free WiFi, the network shows as unsecured, when you connect to the WiFi network another page pops up allowing you to enter an access code.

When I try to connect my Echo Dot (2nd generation), I get that page "Action required for this public network" and I click on "continue" and then I get a "Page failed to load" error. (Note that my phone was successfully connected to the WiFi before doing the Echo setup.)

What's particularly strange is that sometimes the Echo Dot will somehow connect to that network even after that error.  But only sometimes and not consistently. I am not sure what I did differently that got it to work sometimes. Sometimes when it gets to the "preparing your echo dot" page the blue line will go all the way across, tonight it is not, it stops about 1/3rd of the way before taking me to that page that will never load.

Anyone else encounter situations like this and if so, how did you solve it?

Thanks
