Echo and Vera integration?
« on: February 20, 2015, 05:07:58 pm »
I just received my Echo today and I really love it!

I'd like to hear thoughts on integration with a Vera controller.  I have about 13 Hue and GE Link lights, multiple zwave fan and light switches as well as automated locks and door sensors.  I would love to control all of them using Echo.

I know they have not yet opened up the API, does anyone have thoughts on that timeline?

Just received an email from Amazon today stating the Echo now support some WeMo and Philip Hue devices for voice control.  Since I do not own any of the devices, but do have two Veralite hubs in my two condos, I would love to see Z-Wave device support for the Echo.

In the mean time, I might just order an Echo supported WeMo switch to play with......

It works great with my Hue lights!!  I have a Wemo switch, but I have not been able to get that to work yet.  I honestly haven't had much time to work on it though.  I am a bit surprised they went with WEMO integration when WEMO is known for "not playing nice" with other HA applications and connectivity issues.  After all the issues I had with my first switch, I never bought another one.

hey guys,
I have been working on a little project to integrate the echo to my Vera HA gateway.  I really like the seamless experience with the echo and hue and wanted that same experience for my vera.  The bridge emulates the hue gateway to make simple calls to the vera api.
