You  can now connect your non-Dot Echo to a BT enabled speaker.

This info was announced weeks ago when the last FW updates were released (and discussed here) in another thread(s)
To quickly recap new features:  The Amazon Echo can now Send to BT devices
and the Amazon Tap is now hands-free (no more tapping mic button) 
Details about these new features can be read about at the Amazon site Help tab.
