The Amazon Echo has jump-started the “personal assistant” movement into our homes. However, the service was limited in some capacities leaving us wanting a bit more functionality from Alexa. Now, it seems that Amazon has pushed an update to its Echo lineup of products which will allow Alexa to understand follow up questions.

My Echos got the update.  I'm experimenting with it now.

Wonder if we'll get this in the UK at the same roll-out. Can you give version numbers for Echo and Dot so I can look out for it please? My Dots are on 564196920 and the Echo has 4540.

Both of my Echos are on 4540 as well and have the functionality in question, so it would appear that it was that update that enabled it.  Give it a try.
