Echo compatible ceiling fan?
« on: December 24, 2016, 08:25:34 am »
I need to get two ceiling fans for my kids' rooms. They will be the only source of light for the rooms. Does anyone know of a ceiling fan that will work with my Echo Dot? If not, are there smart bulbs that will fit in a regular fan.  Most fans have the candlelight size bulbs which are too small for Hue.

If you google "ceiling fan and echo dot" you will come across a link for Haiku ceiling fans. Another option would be a home automation hub with a fan controller.

might checking out the wemo or other brands wall switches and see if it will work for you.   In general, most connected bulbs are heavy and really would not look right in the ceiling fan lights.   I know for sure the wemo ones work with the echo.

Thanks. The Wemo switch will work. It would be nice to be able to control the fan speed though.

I'm new to home automation and I'm just starting out. Thanks for your help.

The Insteon FanLinc requires a controller. You can install an Insteon KeypadLinc, use an Insteon Hub or both. You can even use an Insteon Mini Remote.
