Echo Dot and Echo Behave Differently w/ Same Request
« on: December 02, 2016, 08:48:29 pm »
Hello,

I'm new to Alexa and have just set up my dot.  We also have a regular Echo. So, I'm a little confused about why these two devices don't behave exactly the same. Here's an example:

I asked Echo to "play 70s music" and she played a 70s music station.
I asked Dot to "play 70s music" and she played my 70s music, not the music station.

Why don't they do exactly the same thing? Is there something I need to set up differently in the dot?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I ask my Echo, Dot and Tap to play 70's music and they all reply with the same response.

"Here's a station for 70's music."

Ditto here.

OP...are your Echo and Dot associated with different accounts?

Your new Dot just may need some "breaking in" and some training.  You see, Your Echo seems to know when you ask it to play 70s music you mean MY 70's music.  You may have corrected it a few times when new.  So, when you want to hear it on your new Dot, ask it to play MY 70's music.  It should work fine.  After a few times asking this way it might get you always mean your music.
