Can i use Alexa app when not home to turn lights on?
« on: November 30, 2016, 09:30:40 am »
Hi all,

I am new here and just opened up my amazon echo and set up a few Kasa outlets to control lights. I was curious if i can use Alexa app when I am at work to turn lights on and off?

Thank you, Randy

You can't perform device control via the Alexa app (though you can access the Alexa service for voice commands using 3rd party apps like Lexi and/or Roger).  But why not just use the Kasa app?

I use the Kasa app with a TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug to control a light via Echo when I'm at home. If I'm away from home, I use the Kasa app to set up an on/off schedule, set a random schedule, or simply turn the light on/off manually.
