Title: Port on Bottom of New Echo plus?

What is the purpose of the little rubber-capped port on the Echo (2nd gen)? Also is the little threaded adapter in the center some kind of a tripod adapter, and if so, why is it so tiny?

I'm thinking this is the connection for one of those aftermarket / Third party portable battery and/or bluetooth speaker adapters ?    Anyone else have any ideas/thoughts?
