I probably will be waiting a long time for Slacker Radio to appear on Echo. Meanwhile. I'll just continue to BT to Echo from mobile device or PC when I want it playing.

I've been waiting a long time for this too. Very disappointed it needs a premium account, as the ad based service has always been fine, as it is with Pandora etc. Even more dissapointed that it also needs a US based account too. Just wish amazon echo would hurry up & start thinking beyond the US (I'm losing hope).

The Echo is a device of many colors, and with one of those colors it is an Amazon robotic selling machine. I would not be at all surprised if Amazon gets a little spiff (i.e. $$$) from outfits like Spotify and Pandora if someone sets up a new account or even listens to the service through an Echo. Same for Uber reservations made via Echo. I do not believe a lot of these apps are created by Amazon "out of the goodness of their hearts" just for us users; which is fine, Amazon can and should make honest money however they can, so I hope they ARE getting a spiff from these actions.
