Alexa Tips & Tricks / Re: 2 wifi networks on Alexa?
« Last post by plc48 on September 18, 2021, 12:19:55 pm »
You may have to tell Alexa in the garage to connect to the extra wifi. I have a 2.4ghz network that is for my smart bulbs, and a 5 ghz for all other Alexa activities.  I have to make sure both my Echos are connected to the same network to stream music through my combined speakers group.

However, do you really want them on separate wifi networks?  Is your problem really that you need a combined speaker group, or that the garage needs it's own router?

Alexa Tips & Tricks / Stream and shuffle all your favorite Amazon Music-here's how I did it
« Last post by plc48 on September 18, 2021, 12:13:13 pm »
I play music all day on my Echo and Echo Dot.  I got frustrated with hearing the same music repeatedly when I knew I had over 220 songs as "favorites" or "likes".  After research, trial, and error I realized Alexa only shuffles about 20 songs at a time.  Here's my solution.

I opened the Amazon Music on my laptop, sorted in alphabetical order by song title (this gives you a nice starting shuffle).

I took 20 songs at a time and created 11 playlists:  Favorites 1 - 11

I established a speaker group and gave it a custom name:  mine is Combined Speakers.  One in the living room and one in the bedroom.  No matter where I walked in my home I could hear the music.

I added my Echo and Echo Dot to the group.

Here's the important part:  playing on the speaker group is pre-determined by saying the phrase "play music".  So, I would say "Echo, play and shuffle Favorites 1 music".  At first I had to tell Echo at the end of the phrase "on Combined Speakers".  But after the first two times it wasn't necessary.

A playlist of 20 songs will play continuously for about 1.5 hours.  When it stopped, I would just tell it to play the next one.

Now, I have 220 songs playing and shuffling continuously.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Alexa not finding playlist
« Last post by CatieHeart on September 08, 2021, 01:25:09 pm »
Hey guys...
My Echo 4th was also being difficult, and I did everything, yall mentioned, too! Nothing! I finally got it working just by changing the name of my playlists, mostly just adding 'my' to the Name of the Playlist. I have one called nursery...and added 'my' and it worked.... I don't question it...I'm just glad it's back. Change the names, it really worked. I know most of us say "my" before we state Playlist...but putting that Into the Playlist Name...just worked. By the way...use the Amazon Music App to Edit Playlists Name. Hope this helps.

« Last post by frank1492 on September 07, 2021, 08:52:11 pm »
I wanted to set up a second Bluetooth speaker on a second Dot. The first setup worked fine, but I can't get the second Bluetooth working on the second Dot. Is this not possible or am I doing domething wrong? Thanks.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Why tapping the top can't silence the speaker?

Not all Echo devices support tapping on the top to silence it. I know that the Echo Show 5 supports it. I don't know about any other models.

The you tube I saw was echo 4.

The pictures are mostly classic 19th century style works, so I'm guessing that they're licensed by the Rijksmuseum or similar.
Still, your suggestion re. Google image search is a good one, and I'll put it to the test.
Thanks!

Yes, that works and, yes, my guess that they - or at least those I've tested - are from the Rijksmuseum collection is also correct!
Thanks again! :-)

Amazon has several backgrounds that you can use for your clock/home background. Unfortunately they don't say artist's name or where it came from. I suggest taking a picture of it from your phone and then do a Google image search with that picture and see what you come up with. I'm guessing that it's probably something that Amazon created internally and corporate owned, so it's unlikely to have an artist name.

Have you tried asking Alexa "Who is the arttists and what is the name of this "Painting" or whatever you suspect it is... photo, etc...????

Thanks, but no. As I had already discovered, that one's a dead end. :-(
