Title: Free speech capturing and interaction limitations
Post by: danielsarbe on May 22, 2016, 03:59:21 pm
Hi all,

I would be interested if Amazon Echo can be used for free speech capturing by implementing a "listen" skill that stops when a specific keyword would be used?
Also are there any limitations in term of how long the interaction phrase can be (utterances)? I've seen that in the  service simulator there is a 250 chars limit and I've heard about a 8 seconds limit for the device but I could not find any reference on this.

Thanks,
Daniel

The Echo is not designed for dictation. Any 3rd party skill you write needs to define a strict audio interface. The stricter it is, the more accurately it can understand you. You can fool it into taking in general text, but the results are poor, and it can really only get one sentence.
