Title: Problem with app and dot

Many times when I make a voice request on my Echo Dot this will display on the Fire tablet "in order to use voice cast you must update your alexa app" When I go in and try to update the app it says that it is already on the current version? Any Ideas?

Are you giving the Dot a command through the Fire tablet or directly to Dot?

Have you tried rebooting your Fire tablet?  This is not same as just turning it off and back one.  There is a specific prodedure for rebooting a Fire tablet, and it may be different for different models..  Go to Amazon home page, click on help and find your way to your device's support section.

Thanks! I rebooted the fire tablet and now I was able to get the Alexa update.

Excellent.  FYI my Fire HD tablets are not as "stable" and robust as my iPads, and Fire tablets need rebooting quite often. Many apps misbehave and cause issues until rebooted and flushed clear.  (Same can be said for iPads and iPhones, but less frequently it seems.)
