Title: Using Alexa for Online Shopping?
Post by: mcostello on January 31, 2017, 11:45:09 am
I'm an undergrad student and I'm trying to find out more about Echo / Alexa for a product design class. We're specifically looking into how people can use smart-home assistants to make purchases online. Have you ever used Alexa for online shopping, or to assist you in shopping in general? What has your experience been like?

Thanks!

I have not.  I don't really see how one does it unless it's to REorder something and they know from whom they want to order it.  For me, there are too many decisions to make and I need visuals!

Shopping via an Alexa device is not ready for prime time, except for reorders as already mentioned.  If one defines keeping a shopping list as "shopping," that likely gets a lot of use, but other than that, real shopping cannot be done well this way, whereas using a browser to shop works very well; just check my past online orders at Amazon, and other sellers!  :)
