Title: Echo stopping other devices on network connecting to web
Post by: jasc1259 on February 16, 2017, 01:13:08 am
For some reason when I connect my Echo to my home network other devices on the router can no longer be assigned an IP address. The echo connects fine but other devices complain about not being able to retrieve an ip address. Ive never had a network issue like this before. As soon as i connect the echo to the network it feels like Alexa is hijacking the router and not letting any other device get an IP (devices already connected to the router are booted from connecting to router). The router is set to dynamically assign IPs to devices and when I unplug the Echo all devices connect fine again to the router.

I dont know where to start debugging this. Any suggestions?

Weird.  So, unplug your Echo and see if your network acts normally again.  When finished checking, plug the Echo back in.  (You also may want to reboot your router while Echo is disconnected, and then turn router on again.) This process reboots the Echo and can likely remove the problems you were having.
