Title: The command cancel not longer stops whatever is happening. What happened?
Post by: Zenith49 on December 01, 2021, 01:03:15 pm
I have an echo in my bedroom and I use it to listen to the news.  It used to be when I was finished listening, I would just say 'alexa cancel' and it would stop.  Now, cancel does nothing and I have to say 'alexa stop'.  Cancel still works on other echos, but not the one in my room.

What happened?

TIA
Z

Just tried 'cancel' on each of my Dots while playing Elvis. Worked just fine, not sure what your problem may be. I usually use 'stop' instead, both seem to work fine.

Instead of cancel, Say "Alexa,, STOP"... she will stop EVERYTHING she is doing. no lights will be affected if you use it for light controls, or other 3rd party things like thermostats. if she's got a timer set, an alarm or such, the use of "Cancel" is more appropriate, but "Stop" will stop what is currently happening. I believe it will leave timers and alarms alone as well.
