Hi all. Hope you're having a happy holiday! Not sure if this is the right place to post this question. I am trying to teach Alexa a different kind of skill. I cannot find any info on doing this. I would like to say "hey Alexa, show me 123 main street in (city/state)" and have her pull up an actual picture from google maps data of said address on my Fire TV Box. Can i train Alexa to help me with this task?

Alexa Across the Pond (Europe) / Calling by name only working One Way
« Last post by johnf52 on December 23, 2021, 06:25:00 am »
We have 11 Echo Dots on our home network but on three different accounts so I can say "Call Barrie", Call Karen" or call Blayn".  I am John or Granddad depending on who calls me.
Everything has been working fine until recently.  When Blayn calls me all my Dots announce. "Blayn is calling... etc"   but when I say "Alexa Call Blayn"  it doesnt matter which one I ask, the response is "There is a Blayns on High St, do you wish .... etc etc "   High St in Gainsborough is a pokey back street in a residential area and has no shops, so ther is NO Blayns or Blaines on the Hight St. !!

I have checked the Apps and all are set up for Call Alexa devices as a preference.  Nicknames etc are all ok  and I have rebooted the Dots several times.  This peculiarity is the same if Barrie or Karen try to call Blayn (who is only upstairs) on their devices. It IS possible to call her through the app on the phone.  !!!!  This is most peculiar.

I dont understand why it now only works in one direction!

Can you shed any light on this and help use get back to the way things were.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Navigating menus in phone calls

if your smartphone is handy, there is an app called dtmf.  when making calls with alexa, you can navigate call menus using it.   It works with sounds.   The same sound the phone makes when you type in a number.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Playlist
« Last post by Patti18 on December 22, 2021, 11:45:21 am »
I have the Echo show 5, I have a playlist of Christmas songs approximately 113 songs.  Alexa only plays up to number 24 or 25 and then stops.  It previously last year played my whole playlist.  I was wondering what I must do to get it to play the whole playlist.  I am hoping someone can help me with this issue.
Thank you, I very much appreciate your help.
Patricia

You don't. There's no way to make a touchtone sound (DTMF) when making a handsfree call with Alexa.

If making a hands free call using Alexa how do you navigate a menu when you are asked to, for example, Press 1 for Accounts,  Press 2 for customer service?

Amazon accepting or not accepting any particular type of payment should not have any effect on Alexa or its skills.

Amazon Echo Discussion / BEST TO PAIR WITH SYNC BOX or INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
« Last post by hrpuffnstuff on December 20, 2021, 12:11:36 pm »
New to alexa, so gentle please folks  ;D

I know alexa can pair with 'most' remote controlled items, and youtube has been a great help.
Im moving back to Philippines (soon i hope) taking alexa and her family with me.

Q:-
Is it best to pair items (Aircon, lights TV's hi-fi etc) individually
or
use a syncing box.
or
is that what alexa is ...a syncing box?
I said about Philippines because their technology is not, lets say, top of the shelf. they've only just accepted paying by debit card in supermarkets, and the touch and go will be years from now, google pay doesnt even exist and wont for a long time yet

Amazon will no longer recognise UK Visa cards from next month. Will Alexa skills still work on my Echo Dot?
