Well it IS linked, along with two others and the Firestick. However the app seems to prefer the Firestick, so I get video and sound but no microphone. If I unlink the Firestick I get no video ... so the qeustion is unanswered: how do I tell the app to route the video to the Firestick but make the announcement and the intercom operate from the Echo?

Amazon Echo Discussion / Continuous flashing blue light
« Last post by Albow69 on December 30, 2021, 02:18:29 pm »
Hi a couple of days ago my echo stayed on a continuous circling blue light. It wouldn't respond when I spoke to it. I've unplugged and reconnected the power (which is the original power supply). I've uninstalled it from the app and tried factory reset by pressing the mute button volume down button and still nothing, it continues to circle the blue light. Any suggestions please.

I have a Ring Doorbell (wired), an Amazon Echo (next to the armchair) and a TV with an Amazon Firestick. I would like to have the doorbell video on the TV (Firestick) but talk to the visitor via the Echo device. Can audio and video be split in that way?

I had no trouble getting the picture on the TV; the sound also plays on the TV and it gives a notice that the microphone is disabled (presumably because the TV does not have one).

Can I tell Alexa that I want the sound on one device (Echo) and the picture on another (Firestick)?

should not be a problem as long as the echo device is linked to the ring doorbell.    If when the doorbell is pressed, and the echo device says someone is at the door, then it is linked.   If not, go to the alexa app, find the ring doorbell under devices and make sure echo device is selected.

Im really new to all this and learning and lurking in here....did not see too much on this but my 1st Issue.  I have amazon Alexa 2nd Gen I belive downstairs ...had it a while..added a echo dot in bedroom this xmas for white and go some smart devices..bulbs at this point.  added them..linked to a room or location.  I for instance have 3 bulbs in a group for bedroom and when I tell echo to turn off bedroom lights all work fine...but do I have to do something to get all alexa devicese to recognize my new stuff....for instance..when I tell downstairs alexa to turn on bedroom lights...its say does not recogzine routine and recites my directv serial number or something.  Since I made it a group and all that one the one device (Echo) i though all the alexas on the same network would recognize my "commands"

but only upstairs recognizes my groups and commands..downstairs does not..did so hall lights too and same deal.  How to I get a group or command to be recognized and performed across all my devices???????????
Looking in the alexa app nothing seems apparant.......

You are right, Amazon says that this Echo Dot can't be set up using their browser.

Generally, I recommend using a cell phone (with the alexa app on it) to set up any Alexa/echo items/devices... I've been in the ecosystem so long I don;t remember if I ever set one up via Computer or web browser. I believe that's where Your particular issue lies as well.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Can't setup Echo Dot using Firefox browser

My son setup Alexa using his iPhone but he's gone back to Germany. Alexa is having trouble finding the network, I am trying to setup again at alexa.amazon.co.uk/ using Firefox. I get as far as Go to your Wi-Fi settings on this computer and select the Amazon-ate network. It may take up to a minute to appear. After connecting to Amazon-XXX, you can continue setup. It connects to the Amazon-XXX network but nothing else happens so setup can't continue. What do I need to do next?

Echo Technical Support / Spot 5, 2 notes and the alarm stops playing
« Last post by LeKeiser on December 25, 2021, 05:55:13 am »
Hello everyone,
I have a weird problem. I have a Spot 5 in my bedroom with a few alarms configured.
I don't know why, but sometimes, a lot of times actually, the alarm starts and stops after just a couple of notes. "Dim Dam Du..." and everything is quiet.
I have reconfigured the alarms. I have changed the the time, the notes. I have deleted the alarms. I have created new alarms. I have factory reseted the Spot. But still, sometimes, most of the times, the alarm kicks in and then stop after 3 or 4 notes.
I don't know what to do to fix that annoying problem...
If anyone has an idea :)

Thanx for your help :)

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Turn off "Alexa for your day" on Show...
« Last post by netrace on December 23, 2021, 07:48:45 pm »
Well unfortunately becoming Canadian wasn't the answer.  While there are not more "Alexa for your day" or any other annoying messages being displayed, there's now another issue.  Every 15 seconds the screen fades to black and then comes right back.  It's the same home clock screen, but that's what it does on repeat now.  Pretty much as annoying as all the messages.  I'm giving up on Echo's with displays.  They're garbage if you can't control the display.
