Title: Green ring won’t go away on two Echos
Post by: Mike B on November 13, 2021, 12:37:40 am
I have two Echos in different rooms of my apartment. In both, the ring has started flashing green and has t stopped for several days. Communications have been turned off on both devices for years. There are no messages. There are no Amazon shopping notifications, and I have gone through and turned off ALL notifications on both devices. I have disconnected from power several times and restarting didn’t help. I unregistered one of the devices from my account completely and re-added it, and the green ring returned within minutes of being back to my account. Asking Alexa to turn off the green rings doesn’t help. I’m at my wit’s end. Help! How do I get rid of the green rings?!

This is what Amazon says when the Green ring won't stop.

Green Light Won't Turn Off on Your Echo Device

As per the Amazon page linked above, this typically means you are engaged in a call of some description. This could be a call by using the "Drop In" command or indeed by making an active call via your mobile phone. This second option requires your Alexa device to have permissions to read your contact list.

In either instance, the easiest way to do this is to use the "Hang Up" command and if that fails, the definitive "Stop All" or "Cancel All" commands usually works (the ALL is very important as it will send the Stop/Cancel command to ALL Alexa devices on your network).

Hope that helps but I'm guessing you probably already have it sorted.

PS: Unregisrering a device won't help. If it's on your network and associated with any skills or linked accounts you'd need to to a complete reset/setup.
