Title: Apple Music.... UK
Post by: stocklen on December 15, 2018, 03:32:47 am
OK, so it seems we are here again.

Disparity from the USA to the rest of the world who purchase the amazon echo.

When they announced the impending Apple Music integration a few weeks ago, there was NO mention of the fact that it would be a USA only thing at launch.

In fact, it only became clear yesterday (Friday 14th December - launch day) that the functionality was once again USA only.

This is 'followup mode' all over again - what possible reason could there be for restricting this to the USA?

I really hope that this is one of those rapidly phased rollouts and it will be live in other countries within days at the most.

Totally agree with everything you’ve posted. They had better get it out to us pronto.

It's not on, considering Amazon's profits in the UK alone amount to around 2 billion per year. And Apples is the same, all the while they pay a pitiful amount of corporation tax!!

Not really. Apple release iPhones on the same day in the UK as the US and everyone gets updates on the same day for iPhones.

Does anyone know when this might be released in the UK? I signed up to Apple Music because I saw an announcement that it was coming to Alexa. It was reported in the UK press and no mention of it not being available here!

as far as I know, nobody here works for amazon so there is no way to know what plans amazon has for the UK.

Thank you for your response. Sorry I am obviously not as confident as you are that there is no information out there which is why I asked the question. You make a  pretty broad assumption. It is not only employees of Amazon that might have this knowledge. People may be better informed than me, may have read announcements that I have not seen, may have press statements that I don’t know about, may have knowledge from other forums and may even be connected to rumour mills that might give some insight to what is happening. It was a reasonable question. Maybe it will not be answered today but when it inevitably does it will be available for people, including me to see under a title of “Apple Music.... UK” on a forum about the "Amazon Echo".

if there is knowledge, most likely it would be confidential information at this time.  who wants to lose their job.  as the rolling stones sing, "you can't always get what you want"    the problem with rumors is just that, rumors.  they just build up false hope.   but if you want one.  I would say you would get apple access sometimes in 2019  :-)  unless brexit messes that up too.   One other thing to consider.  if there were any type of official rumor, one of the many entertainment and tech sites would have already picked it up.  after all, they are the ones would hear things first.

Renegade, as much as you seem to want to push the more aggressive and somewhat patronising "you'll get it when you get it so quit complaining" attitude, you are missing the point of this thread.

There is no problem with people discussing when a particular feature will be released.  Especially when it is quite a big deal as this one is.

Also, as mentioned before - apple music integration was announced to the world some weeks before and the release date of 17th December was promised.  This NEVER MENTIONED that is would be a USA only feature.

So, like many of us outside of the USA, we all thought this was coming and looked forward to its release.  It is only on the actual launch date that it became clear that it was USA only.

So, firstly, we have every right to be miffed that this was not made clear, and secondly there seems to be no good reason why this is a delayed release.  Having said that we had to wait months for things like 'follow up mode' so who knows when we will get apple music.

All I am saying is, why not be clear at the press announcement that this was going to be USA only.  Would have avoided a lot of confusion and disappointment.

common sense says when the press releases states it is being released in the US, it means the USA only at that time.   sorry you were so confused and disappointed for nothing.

Well actually the initial press release did not mention anything about it being specific to the US. As the previous poster says there was no mention of it being only for the US which led most people to believe it would be available worldwide. It was only after the feature became available that articles started stating that it was a US only feature. Had this fact been mentioned when it was first announced that Apple Music was coming to the echo I wouldn’t have been bothered.

Thanks - thats exactly as I saw it too, hence my original post.

Renegade... this is the reality of it for us (non USA owners) - simply a feature that is useful, and when originally advertised no mention of it being USA only as we have tried to explain.

so no "common sense" required!!  The press release didn't mention that - HAD IT MENTIONED IT.... we wouldn't be moaning about it :-)

Simple fact - no argument needed.  This isn't that type of forum.

As others have said, no mention of it being US specific. This article was from a UK tabloid so why wouldn't we in the UK think it was coming to the UK too!

Well just to update this remarkably fast moving and vibrant forum.....

Looks like today is the day... Apple music is available as an option!  Finally.

Heres hoping the next big thing is released worldwide next time (though I doubt it).
