Title: Out of town and want to disable Echo
Post by: LWMS on June 16, 2019, 03:43:44 pm
Hi All,
I was wondering if there was a way to disable an Echo short of deregistering it. Is there a way to disable the microphone from the alexa.amazon.com website? I did delete the saved Wi-fi passwords, but im not clear on what that will do. I suspect it will require that the Wifi be setup again from scratch is that correct?

There is no way to disable an Echo remotely unless you deregister it from your Amazon account.
The saved wifi password setting only affects new devices during setup, not devices that you are already using.

Thinking ahead, perhaps you can put the Echo on a smartplug so that you can turn it on/off remotely using the smartplug's app. Dozens of manufacturer's make them, including Amazon, Belkin, TP-Link, etc.
