If you were one of the lucky few people that got an invitation, when is your Echo expected to ship?
Or if you already got the Echo, when did you get it?
-
I happened to check my shopping cart before I went to bed on January 8, and it was available. I didn't get the email till the next day.
My delivery date is Feb 20 with 1-day shipping. I think the 2-day free date was Feb 23. I'm glad I didn't delay because I think within a few days the delivery date was out to May or June.
-
It happened exactly the same way with me.
Every once in a while, I'd check the Amazon Echo page. And every time, it says something like "Thank you for your request...blah blah blah."
But on January 9th, it showed an "Add to Cart" button. I thought it was a mistake or that Amazon just opened up a general release to the public. I immediately bought one and checked out. My delivery date is February 23 with 2-day Prime shipping. It was a day later, on January 10th that I received the email from Amazon inviting me to buy the Echo.
I'm happy that I accidentally found it early because I've heard that there were a lot of invites that went out on January 9-10th and most people who purchased at that time had estimated delivery dates in June or July. I don't know if I can wait that long. I can hardly wait until Feburary 23!
-
When I got the invitation in early January, I had decided by then I wasn't interested. But for some reason, I read one of the Gold Box Forum posts about how someone was using their Echo. That changed my mind and I ordered on the last day of the invite period.
So the idea of using it as an alarm clock appeals to me. I know.. kind of expensive for an alarm clock, but with my crazy schedule, it is perfect!
Plus the music from Prime, as well as the trivia I can ask will make it fun!
For instance, right now I am reading a book about geology, so I often have questions such as: When did Pangaea first form? When was the first Ice age? When did Lake Missoula first flood northern Idaho?

The Echo I bought on Ebay is coming today! I can't wait.
I heard that the people who got their invitations around January 9-10 were getting delivery estimates of May, June, or July.
Just out of curiosity, what is the current delivery estimate from Amazon if you just got your invitation this week? I still haven't gotten my invitation yet. At this point, it almost doesn't matter since my Echo will be here in a couple of hours. If I do get another invite, I might get a second one for the bedroom.

I placed my order with Amazon, Jan 8th right after I got my invitation. Echo is out for delivery today. Cant wait

My Echo was scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, February 18. On Tuesday night, I kept on looking at the order status and it wasn't marked shipped. I'm thinking, how can it get here Wednesday when it's almost midnight Tuesday now?
Wednesday comes around and I get an email from Amazon saying that my order is delayed. The new delivery estimate is now March 5th. UGH! So I decide to chat with an Amazon rep about it, and he couldn't help me because there's a special department for Amazon Echo. He said he'll forward the information to that department and they'll call me. I said just have them email me.
They did email me after two days, and the good news is that my Echo has been shipped. According to tracking, it's coming via Fedex Overnight and will be here today, Saturday! It's a few days late, but not as late as they initially said. They also volunteered a $10 promo credit for anything I want to buy on Amazon.

Great news that yours arrived! Mine won't come until May, June, or July.
-
I requested the invite November 6.
Was able to order January 6.
She arrived February 24.
-
Should be coming in the next week or two (End of March, first part of April.) ;D The date was moved up about two or three months.
Update: the date was moved back, also. But it will come tomorrow, May 18 or 19

Today, when I get home from work 8)

Got my notice that mine should be here on Wednesday (May 20). Can't wait
-
Wyzard, when did you order your echo?
-
January 13, 2015
-
Wyzard, that is the same day I ordered, and mine is coming on the same day. ;D
-
Wyzard & alot2do, congrats on getting your Echo in a couple of days!
With all the cool stuff people have been writing about in these forums, I'm sure you are very excited to try the Echo. Be warned, though, the novelty wears off very quickly.
But that doesn't mean the Echo is useless. I just don't use mine as much as I anticipated. Supporting Wemo home automation was a HUGE thing for me since I already had 10 Wemo switches in the house. If you have Wemo (or Hue), you'll love the Echo! I also have a Nest thermostat and waiting on the official support from Amazon.
There are still so many things that I would like the Echo to do. But that aside, tonight while I was looking at some grocery advertisements, I wanted to compare two sizes of ice cream to find out which was a better deal. So I asked, "Alexa, how many quarts are in 48 ounces" and "Alexa, how many quarts are in 16 ounces." I got the answers I needed and off I went to the supermarket. Sure, I could have gotten a calculator from my office or just pulled out my phone, but it was much more convenient to ask Alexa.
Certainly the Echo makes getting answers to simple questions quick and easy. And that's what you can expect. Home automation support was a big bonus. I hope Amazon continues to add support for other home automation devices. Amazon still has a long way to go, but so far, it's been a fun ride. I can't wait to see what else is in store!

Cool. Really looking forward to getting mine. Got the shipping notice so now I'll be spending the next day or so tracking it... LOL
-
Thanks Jwlv. I think Echo will be most useful to me in calculating things. I wanted to know the relationship of the diameter of Sun and Moon compared to distances of both from the earth. Echo made that very simply, as I asked for distances, diameters, calculations, etc.
By the way, the distance ratio is 389 to diameter ratio 400. That is why eclipses occur because those two numbers are so close.

(Oh, by the way, Echo came today!)
It is so handy to have the iPad open to the echo app, so that all the numbers she reads off are right there on the iPad screen. Took 1/12th of the time it would take me to look up the info and do that calculations myself.

Congrats! Mine scheduled for delivery today. So pumped. Can't wait to get it.
-
My unit is being delivered today. I look forward to this forum and hope we can all come up for some great uses for the echo. My priority is to get it work as a baby monitor since it's always listening via an app.

invited and Ordered on May 26, expected delivery according to Amazon now is July 13. I hate this waiting game now.
:-\
-
The first two were in the 2-3 month range and our third is no different. Ordered April 7th-delivery scheduled for June 17-July 2. I suspect Amazon gives very generous shipping times so when they arrive closer or even earlier than expected, the customer is happier.

That's still a lot better than some folks who ordered back in February and are just now receiving their Echoes this month.
-
I ordered mine in March and was given a delivery range of July-August. I was pleasantly surprised to receive mine the first week of June. It's really a cool toy. Audible integration is excellent. WEMO integration feels like Star Trek. IFTT integration is sending items to my iOS Reminders app--sweet!
My two biggest wish list items are Nest and iCloud mail/calendar support.
-
Nest support is likely to come soon.
iCloud support is unlikely because it seems Apple doesn't play nice with anyone else. Just look at the dozens of smart watches available on the market. All for Android. Pebble is the only one that works well with iPhone (besides Apple Watch).
-
Plus apple has the home kit and its just too soon for that kind of integration with another controlling device
