This is what I found from 2021

You may be right (amazon has a history of disabling features that could be rather commercialized)

Maybe I remembered this incorrectly, but I do seem recall Amazon disabling videos in Amazon Photos several years ago.

This is not likely a new issue but I can't find an answer that settles this with a definite and if so proven response.
The most annoying fact to this is that in the list of video sources given on Echo Show 5 "Amazon Photos" is not listed even though the storage is provided to promote private video in that database.
Please get me educated.

For me, once I touch the screen in the bottom right corner a window opens and let me make a choice to deselect the sponsor for future display. It seems to work for me and doesn't replay the particular ad as far as I can tell. Another observation, amazon recognized when a person enters the room or lights are turned on and started the photo session with the same ad always until I deselected it. I am just waiting for new ads to show up.

It didn't take Amazon long to come up with new ads. This just a game being played with us users. No way to escape other than shutting features down that start getting me in bad mood. Time to look for alternatives under my control.

I finally figured out the origin of scattered ads during my viewing of photos on my Echo show 5. The ads are labeled as sponsored in the bottom right corner. There is also an "i" next to it which gives access to an option menu where you can stop that particular one. So Amazon forces us to manually go on each "sponsored" page to deactivate it. Since most people  like me will not readily noticed the option and hence become an ad subscriber without intention.

It don't help.   When the ads first appeared, I was constantly clicking on the i to try to stop them, did not work.   I believe all it did was let amazon know when you were around so they can target you better.

Until Amazon wakes up their tablets a little... I'll stick with what i have. They could double their processor speeds and RAM and it would at least be a faster experience... the ones I have are getting slow due to content requirements in many ways. Had one of the 10" tablets brick on me the other day (Had 4, now down to 3). Tore it to pieces and nabbed all the data parts and shredded them... could have replaced the battery, but don't really need so many anymore. All the grandkids are coming around a lot less... no need to replace. I would likely buy the 21 inch Show, and probably will if My father in law stays permanent at the rehab/nursing place... I can have my 3rd bedroom back for an office/spare bedroom. Other than that, nothing new has come along that makes me want to own it... I like my old SPOT better than the new ones... and the echo dot with clock suffices for any newer ones with clocks. Kinda been a couple of dead years for me and Echo.

Nope. Didn't get a thing this year. I did buy an RV extension cable, not because it was Black Friday. I just happened to need an RV extension cable at the time.

Black Friday is here and there have been a lot of great sales for echo devices.   Anyone do any upgrading or adding to their smart home?

All I got was three buttons, two Lutron and one Hue.   No new echo devices.  I do not see me getting any more echo devices.
