Trying to connect an alexa dot and it immediately returns 7:1:10:12:2
Any idea what this means?

I'm trying to find this out too. Everything worked fine before the Thanksgiving holiday. Since the weekend, connection drops, blue ring spins, then orange and Alexa declares ready for setup. Tried reset button, unplugging, moving get closer to wifi, going through setup, get this 7:1:10:12:2 error, works a few minutes w Spotify, but then later drops.

I assume by now that your issues have been sorted out but just in case anyone else also has this problem, as I did. Just reset your router.

The solution to this problem for me was to attach to a 2.4 GHz network instead of a 5 GHz network. The manual says that Echo can attach to 802.11 a, b, g, and n networks, but not 802.11ac 5GHz networks. Here is the link to the information, although it could be a little more clear that 802.11 ac won't work:
