Title: Connect Dot 3 to Android Hot Spot
Post by: olf20 on January 12, 2019, 05:54:15 pm
I have read all (most all ) information about how to connect my
Samsung G5 Hot Spot to the Echo Dot 3.
For some reason I can not get the job done.
It will go thru all the steps and at the last step
it will say Dot was unable to connect to your wifi
network.
Well the wifi network is connected to the dot.
If I try and turn on the Hot Spot then the wifi
disconnects.
I'm stumped.
Thanks for any help!

On Android phones if you turn on the HotSpot, the phone's WiFi will disconnect. That's by design. Because if you are allowing other devices to connect to your phone via HotSpot, the phone's own WiFi must shut off. Otherwise it's just a network relay/bridge and not a HotSpot.

You'll need to use a second phone to set up the Dot with the hotspot. Once it's set up, the Dot can connect to the hotspot without the use of the second phone.

Never mind. Used laptop, got connected.
Will try in my truck later today.
Just got back testing the dot3 in my
truck. It works great. I have android drive
and it talks thru alexa. Great sound and
volume.
Thanks guys!
