Title: Echo Dot output music to Macbook active external speakers?
Post by: dsbacon on March 20, 2017, 11:44:49 am
I've done a lot of searching and haven't found an answer to this.

I have a Macbook with active external speakers attached through the headphone jack. I would like my Echo Dot to use those speakers as it's out put. I don't want to plug the aux cable to the speakers because that would be a redundant input and isn't good.

Is there a way to do this? I can pair with Bluetooth but apparently that connection goes TO the Dot, not to the Macbook?

Thank you! Dan

My DOT is connected to my iMac.  I don't know how to make the DOT use the "external" speakers.  However, there is an app called BOOM which will make the sound coming from the DOT sound like it's coming from external speakers.  You can find BOOM at the App Store.
