I think I'm going to give TanTan a try (no hub required).  Anyone have any experience with TanTan?

Can't speak about the TanTan plugs, but the TP Link mini plugs work flawlessly. Alexa integration is a breeze.

Kasa app is very easy to use and programming options are many.

Still available on Amazon this morning for $24. No hub requirements.
