Title: Echo + TV Fire thing + streaming apps questions
Post by: kenf on February 10, 2020, 03:14:34 pm
I've already got enough Echo in my house. Don't need another one in the living room getting confused where I set a laundry timer.

What I do need is something to play netflix, amazon prime, Hulu, cbs all access and disney + since my xbox and playstation died.

I could get a roku or an Amazon fire thing.  Of which, there are many.

I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, but it'd be nice if my existing echo could tell it what to do.  Does Amazon make one that does that?

Will it support common and newer services?  Unlike my allegedly smart TV which only the Netflix app amazingly still works.

Can somebody break down the current Fire thing options from cubes to sticks to candy dishes?

A cheapo Amazon Fire TV Stick will do the trick and work with all of your existing Echo devices for voice commands. During Black Friday & Prime Day (in June), they can be had for about $25.

Right now, it's $35 on Amazon -> https://www.amazon.com/Fire-TV-Stick-with-Alexa-Voice-Remote/dp/B0791TX5P5
