Title: more ads for alexa

Look like there will be more ads on alexa.

Amazon wants Alexa owners to buy more things. That’s the clear impetus behind the new Alexa feature announced today at Amazon’s Accelerate conference, called Customers Ask Alexa, which lets brands submit answers to common questions like “How can I remove pet hair from my carpet?” and “How to eliminate odor from soil stains?” Previously, Alexa supplied generic tips from the web and other sources in response to such queries. But Customers Ask Alexa basically turns answers into sponsored product spots.

This has me contemplating going all out Home Pod. I already have two and they actually "hear" better than the echos (Through a crowd of people talking it will recognize a wake command and answer you). And all of the things I have done so far with them is trouble free, and sans Ads. Doesn't hurt that the audio quality is head and shoulders above Echo as well.

I have been preparing for this.   I will only purchase smart devices that will work with both alexa and google.   I also have a full set up of google nest smart devices.   I like the fact that some google commands will not need the wake word but right now it is only on the hub max.   Maybe others will be announced soon when google have their event in October.

I have considered going that route as well... however, I'm still barely able to stomach Google in general due to their data trading model. Although i know that All of the AI makers are guilty of the same eavesdropping crap, I have come to (not necessarily correctly) the conclusion that Apple has the least intrusive data mining and sharing stuff. Privacy is no one's to have these days.

I found a place on my PC to check on what's accessing my google account yesterday, and it shows that my account is being accessed by MANY things in my life, including when I am asleep. and when I am not online anywhere. This is all due to the agreements we make with Google when we sign up for some Google account of one kind or another... Having put forth a minimal amount of effort, I see Google as the biggest abuser of our agreements. Amazon a close second, Facebook the worst, and Most apple products (as far as the bug guys are concerned) to be the least troubling... not completely free from scrutiny.m So Google Devices are a no-go for me.

I look at it this way, google is already getting my info, I might as well get something from them and using their smart home device is one way.  I use google rewords and through itt, I can see how much info google is collecting.   For example:  I was on the road today and went into a convenience store.   As soon as I got home, I got a survey from google rewards asking if I was at a certain hotel today.   The hotel happened to be right next to that convenience store.

Anyway, I am still using alexa and fortunately 95+ percent of my commands are for using other smart devices.   So far no ads.    The only ads I see and it only started recently is on the show.   Since I don't sit there watching it, I very seldom see them.   I very seldom ask questions and when I do it is on the frames and they seemed to be exempt from ads and other amazon nonsense like btw's.
