Amazon Echo Discussion / sometimes you just got to laugh
« Last post by renegade600 on August 18, 2023, 08:39:22 pm »
Ordered a set of third generation of echobuds.   My second gen was dropped one too many times.     I was just looking at tracking.    It started out in Memphis Tn, went to Hebron Ky, to Lebanon Tn, and its back in Memphis Tn to be delivered tomorrow  (Saturday) via USPS.   They should have just dropped it in a mailbox and I would have gotten it two days ago.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Shopping list prints items that are deleted

We use the shopping list function on the echos... we just carry our phone (since we already have it on us anyway) and use it to tick off what we have picked up while we shop... Leaving the "found" list we can go over things we have purchased before, and not have to re-enter them. just uncheck the item from the blue box, and it goes into current list of needs... We printed lists a couple of times then realized how much easier it is to just pull up the app and use it on the phone while shopping.

not sure if anything can be done about that.    I used to use list assistant and it would pull the shopping list and send it via email.   I could print the email.

Are you trying to clear completed via voice?   In the android app, you can clear completed by tapping on the three dots at the upper right of the screen.

Amazon Echo Discussion / soccer scores last straw for shows
« Last post by renegade600 on August 16, 2023, 04:02:15 pm »
Got soccer scores the other day on my different shows.   Had to go to home content to disable scores and schedules.   Getting tired of having to make rounds to all the shows to disable things in home content.   In addition, I am tired of all the sponsored ads.

I am replacing all but one with echo pops.   They are currently on sale but I am getting them at Lowes Home Improvement because besides the sale prices, I get an additional five percent off.   They are on order and will pick them up on Saturday.

The old shows will most likely go to the local Humane Society's thrift shop.   Not even worth trading in on Amazon.   I am keeping one show because of Ring doorcams.   I will be setting up a routine to restart photo frames every three hours.

That is enough about me, how are you handling the sponsored ads and all the new home content settings?

Amazon Echo Discussion / Shopping list prints items that are deleted

When I ask Alexa to print my shopping list, she prints the items that are on the list plus all the items that I have cleared from the shopping list.  If I ask her how many items are on my shopping list, she only counts the ones that need purchased, but for some reason when I ask her to print the list, she prints the previous items too.  Now I have to go onto my Alexa app and clear the completed items.  If I ask her to clear the completed items, she wants to clear the whole list.  Any suggestions?

that does not sound like an alexa problem.   Might want to check with the skill developer about this.

Hello everyone,

I have integrated my roller shutters into the Alexa app via the Somfy Skill and the Connexoon Box. Using a routine or the phrase "Alexa, open dining room", the roller shutter for the dining room should be set to "opening level 100".

However, if the roller shutter is only halfway down/up, the roller shutter is moved down instead of up, even though the command "Alexa, open dining room" was given.

Does anyone know the problem and can it be fixed somehow?

Many greetings

nope, as far as I know there is no way to secure your contact list.

Alexa Software Development & Technical Discussion / Re: ECHO battery back up?
« Last post by renegade600 on August 09, 2023, 04:36:12 pm »
Has a small battery backup been considered for the ECHO so one can be unplugged and carried to another room and either be able to listen all the time that going there or used somewhere without a mains supply - garden, shed etc.

you can get batteries for mosf of the echo devices.   Just give amazon a search.

Look up "Echo Dot Battery Base" on Amazon.  There should be several options.  I have a similar setup for an older Gen 2 Dot that still works, but the battery is slowly dying (I only get about 5 hours now down from 8.)
