Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Out of the broadcast area
« Last post by renegade600 on August 28, 2023, 11:42:21 am »
I do not think there is anything you can do about this.    It is all about the license the station has to broadcast the games.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Out of the broadcast area
« Last post by elomino on August 27, 2023, 07:11:46 pm »
One of the ways I can listen to the local radio station that broadcasts the Dodger games, AM 570, is with Amazon Echo.

But when the games are on, and I instruct Alexa to play the station, it tells me that it is accessing "Tune-In Radio" as the source, after which I am informed that I'm out of the broadcast area.  Same with Iheart radio.

The thing is, I can listen to the games no problem if I access my "Tune-In Radio" desktop or phone app directly, not to mention on the regular radio, and the internet.

Hoping to overcome this, I've tried to get Alexa to choose another source, but if there's a way to do this, I can't figure it out.

Is there another source I can direct Alexa to?

I tried contacting Amazon support, but no help there.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Echo buds - 3rd Generation
« Last post by renegade600 on August 26, 2023, 01:12:39 pm »
I have the first generation and they were too heavy and tend to fall out of the ears.    I hate them.    The right ear piece on the second generation squeals like a microphone test just before a speech so it is useless, all because I dropped it one too many times.   For the price of a replacement piece, I decided to get the third generation pair - got them in white.

Just because it is cheaper does not mean it has bad sound.    It is actually pretty good for what I listen to.  There is no noise cancellation, and I don't miss it.  There is only a one size fit all silicone tip cover already on the earpieces with a spare.   I wear them when the echo frames are charging or when wearing prescription glasses.  What I like is they do not stand out as much when wearing them and seem to be lighter and have a tighter grip.   You do not need to jam it down the ear canal to keep from falling out.    The case is much flatter and a bit smaller than the others.  Unfortunately, it is not wireless charging.

No problems giving them echo commands, got them all right the first time - so far.   It was extremely easy to set up.  No regrets so far and would highly recommend them.

Echo Technical Support / Re: Turning off Pre Made List in Shopping

pre made list in Alexas' Shopping Category???????  are you talking about the shopping list under Lists & Notes?  If not, you need to be more specific.   If so, I do not see how it would make a difference whether it is on/off.   Just don't use it if you don't want it.

Echo Technical Support / Turning off Pre Made List in Shopping

Is it possible to turn off the pre made list in Alexas' Shopping Category?
It would be nice if developers would make a "turn off" option when adding something new to the function of Echo.
Thanks.. Gary

Amazon Echo Discussion / Sitcky Notes/ Notes/ Remember / Remember This...

In setting up an Echo Show for a person struggling with early onset dementia, I've been frustrated by the fact that the  "Remember This" invocation seems to be a thing of Echo's past and only available in some poorly-developed skills. So in lieu of an easy-to-implement Remember this-type function, I started using the sticky-notes widget that, at first, worked pretty well. For example when I asked Alexa to create a note saying “my car keys are in the top drawer” that note was created and by default pinned to the Home screen.  When I asked “Alexa, where are my car keys?” she would reply something to the effect of “I found a note that says your car keys are in the top drawer”.  But now when I ask “Alexa, where are my car keys?” she just goes off-topic and says she could not find anything “called car keys” and prompts me to purchase a tile tracker.  Same thing with “Alexa, create a note that says Jane’s favorite color is yellow”.  When I ask “Alexa, what is Jane’s favorite color?” she only response with her own favorite color which she says is ultraviolet…yeah Alexa, very funny.
Why am I having so much trouble simply having Alexa remember a few things?

Amazon Echo Discussion / Echo Show making "laser beam" sounds after commands
« Last post by joshsimpson79 on August 24, 2023, 12:51:44 pm »
I've had this Echo Show for a couple of years.  We own several echos of all types, but this seems to make some sci-fi laser beam sounds after some commands.  I can't find any setting to disable and it only seems to be this one.  It's quite annoying.  Any help would be appreciated.

Based on my research, it could be a Mario or Spider-Verse theme that has been turned on.  I would guess Spider-verse, as that's about when it started.  I'll try when I get home to turn it off.
