OK, I agree with the Top 5.  Weather is better; ask GH the humidity and you get it, Ask Alexa and she is stumped. But, there is more than five things to consider.  Echo is better for asking it to play a song.whereas GH will not play a particular song if you don't pay up for their music service.  BAD.  GH has casting ability which I use often to play music from my server to it (but also has BT). I need to use BT for Echo.

And, then there is sound quality.  Echo sounds thinner and best suited fpr speech, not music.  GH sounds bassier, and sounds better for music.

Bottom line, one of each is nice to have, and I do.

Hi. Tested both Echo and Google home. When it comes to answering questions---home makes echo look like a second rate citizen.

So Chris, the question is, did you buy one?

As mentioned before. Tested with a friend who owns a Google home.
The power supply on the Google home works on 240v.
I am waiting to establish whether the power supply on the mini is thus enabled.
Most power supplies these days are rated 110-240v. Being in Cape Town I must be certain. My procurement of a mini will then proceed.

Hey Chris, have you or your friend called technical support?  I just did :)  Devices purchased in the US have a rating of 110-240v.  Hope that helps.

Asked Echo who is the QB of Denver Broncos.  It told me Payton Manning!  GH got it right.

I would have believed Alexa since I have no idea who the QBs are :o

Glad I could help. About how long will it take?

DHL about a week. Will more or less double the price.
Then, our customs will get hold of it and another six weeks could be added.
This is Africa!
I have a son who lives in Atlanta and he occasionally visits and brings some products along. No visit in the offing at this time. Will get my mini, come hell or high water!

Got my mini installed!
Biggest fail?
Does not push my reminders to my iPhone!

What use is a reminder function if I have to be close to my GH?

Phone is always with me. Alexa performs this task very well.

Do you have personal results enabled?  Reminders are pushed to my Android phone.  Looks like it didn't take nearly as long to get it as you thought it would  :D

Got an Apple. Maybe that's the problem.
Personal results-- where do I find that?

Sorry -- found it. No luck.
Furthermore, as far as home automation goes, my Alexa beats Google hands down.
With its ability to do groupings and routines independently from the device app, still is a winner.

Sorry, I don't do a lot of home automation.  I have 3 TP-Link smart plugs
and GH turns them on and off just like Alexa does.  You might want to visit
the Google Home Product forum for help.  I know GH does groups and routines
are coming soon.  Maybe you haven't quite figured out how to implement it?  Someone on the
forum below can help.  There is also a GH Reddit forum but gee, what
a weird forum with weird rules and aggressive people :o
When you say "groups" do you mean grouping your Google Home devices together
so they will play in unison?  I have 2 groups.  One plays on 3 GHs and one on 4 GHs.
Mike, here on this forum, has multiple GHs and does a lot of home automation.  Maybe
he can help.
