Title: ECHO Reply "OKAY"
Post by: JiminSTLouis on February 27, 2017, 05:13:51 pm
Hi

Is there a way to change the reply phrase to something other than "Okay"?

Thanks!

When do you get that reply? I don't think I've ever heard it.

Alexa says "OK" when you ask it to turn on / off a light, set a thermostat, etc. I don't think it can be changed at this time.

Right, she replies Okay after most commands.  The only time I don't hear it is when I ask the tv volume to be adjusted.

I suspect the only time it says OK, is when it interacts with a second party app, e,g, smart plug apps, thermostat apps, etc.  By saying OK, it confirms it has been in contact with that app to enact the action requested.

Thanks, I expect that's it - it's an acknowledgement and I don't have any of the devices that require it. I'm in the UK though so mine would probably say 'As you wish' and heave a sigh of resigned compliance!
