Title: Can I make my own music playlist for Alexa to play?
Post by: Okeydokie on September 08, 2017, 09:23:50 am
Is it possible to make my own playlist for Alexa? We subscribe to the music service it uses and it plays whateverwe want when asked, but we cannot always remember the name of the songs. How do we make a playlist of all the songs we listen to?

I make playlists using mobile devices that can be played via bluetooth on Alexa devices.  My entire digital music collection is available this way.  I have minimal need for Amazon's music service.

I’ll try and be a little more helpful. OP, have a look at this page:

This link may be even more helpful since it the main Help tab on main page for the US Amazon website.  Click link below and then click on Device Support, find your particular Alexa device and it tells you about all sorts of help info.  A good link to bookmark in your browser.  And, just in case you are not in US, there is a comparable Help link at main page of your specific Amazon website.

I find the easiest way to make playlists is from the Amazon Music PC desktop app. It's not exactly user-friendly but it's better than trying to do it from my Android app.

You can create your own playlist on Spotify and vocally call them on your Echo (I don't do it personally but I've heard it works as long as the playlist name does not confuse Alexa).
That is if you're ready to subscribe to Spotify Premium.
You can start a 30-day trial for Spotify Premium and play with it on your Echo.
Beyond the trial, here is a (French) tutorial to get a dirty cheap Spotify Premium account :

(I went that way and I can confirm it works just fine)

Otherwise you can create a playlist using the free version of Spotify and play that playlist via Bluetooth on your Echo I guess.
That should work. Worth a try anyway  ;)
