I have the echo and it does everything but the tv (other than turning it on/off). I have a computer hook up to my tv and have bookmarks that goes to all the shows I like to watch, in addition to accessing netflix and amazon prime movies. What I want to do is to have voice control over the bookmarks and searches. In addition for some computer control, like opening programs and other tasks. Oh yeah, there is a biggie, I am running the latest version of Linux Mint, KDE.
Any suggestions? Also suggestions for a microphone that will pick up from around 15 feet.

The answer to this one is pretty easy. You already have a microphone that meets your needs. It's in your Echo. All you need to do now is develop your own TV control Skill and host it on your Linux box.
