Title: No sound alerts on iPhone when Echo Dot is switched on
Post by: Bezier1955 on January 05, 2019, 02:38:02 pm
Hi All,

Newbie here. I just got Amazon Echo Dot and have got it set up. However, if I receive a text, WhatsApp, email etc. Alexa gives me a sound alert but no sound alert on my iPhone 6S. I see the notification message on the phone and get the vibration, but no bleep. If I switch the Echo off, my phone gives me sound alerts again.

I've looked as far as I can in both Alexa & iPhone settings but can't figure it out.

Any help is gratefully received!  :-)

Steve

do you have notifications turned on for alexa in your phones settings.

It sounds like you have your Echo Dot paired as a Bluetooth speaker to your phone. Check the Bluetooth settings on the phone and forget the Echo Dot and the sound should play from the phone.

Many thanks for the replies!

StevenR you got it spot on. I told the iPhone to forget this device and the beeps came back on the phone!

Only thing is, now I've told the phone to forget this device, it won't find it next time I want to connect via Bluetooth. I use the Bluetooth connection to allow me to use the free version of Spotify

Thanks for the guidance,
Steve
