Title: Connecting an Echo SHow 8 to Alexa app on iphone
Post by: crisscross on January 29, 2022, 06:29:48 am
Hi, I'm rubbish with technology but want to show my OH I can do something they can't ( hopefully!)

We are trying to set up our much loved and few year old Amazon Echo Show to be able to play Spotify as at the moment it just says playing ----- radio and then plays a random song.

I have the Alexa app and Spotify premium on my iphone and if I use bluetooth it plays on the Show, but doesn't allow me to control it without using the phone.

I am not sure how to link the phone's Alexa app and the Show as it doesn't show up in devices on the app - it doesn't mention echo show anywhere that I can find as opposed to our other dots and firesticks, and I can't work out where the Action button is on the Show which is meant to enter the pairing stage.

It may need saying that the Echo Show is registered with a different email address to Amazon but I am not sure if that will make any difference.

Please has anyone got an obvious solution that I am missing?

I'm really sorry if this is a much repeated question I tried to search but didn't come up with any solutions.

Thanks

Someone else may correct me but the Echo show will only appear in your Alexa app if it is registered to your account ie email address. Go to your Amazon account for the show and de-register device then log out and re-register it on same account as other devices. Hope that helps

Can't you simply add Spotify as a Music Service in the Music and Podcasts section of the Settings menu in the Alexa app? This will allow you to ask "Alexa, play..." from your Show 8, and your choice will play from Spotify if it's set as the default music player.
