Title: Echo Dot - Chromecast Audio
Post by: J2W2 on March 03, 2016, 01:03:49 pm
Hi,

I just found out about the Echo Dot, and I was curious if anyone knows if the Bluetooth feature in it (or in the standard Echo for that matter) allows them to connect to Chromecast Audio?

I'm thinking about picking up a Dot for our living room (our Echo is in the bedroom), but I'd prefer to put it on an end table, rather across the room by the stereo. I was thinking it would be great if I could connect a Chromecast Audio device to my stereo and have the Dot connected to it via Bluetooth.

Thanks!

Chromecast does not use bluetooth, it's wifi. I did ask Amazon yesterday funnily enough, if it would be possible for amazon to add chromecast capabilities to the native spotify setup, just like tablet spotify apps do, via spotify connect. No reason why not. Would be great if they did, as it would mean you could use a much more powerful stereo. The echo dot will be able to do this via Bluetooth only, as far as we're aware.
