Title: Echo Dot Noob - Need Help Regarding Bluetooth Feature
Post by: himadribasak on May 03, 2019, 03:26:21 am
Hi everyone, I am new to Amazon Alexa and not fully aware of its capabilities and features.
I need to have the following setup at my home and I am not sure whether it will be feasible, it would be awesome of you if you can help!

My soundbar is connected to my TV via 3.5mm aux cable.
My soundbar has bluetooth as well.

I want my Echo dot to work with internal speakers all the time and connect to my soundbar via bluetooth ONLY when I want it to (mostly when I would want to listen to music through Echo dot). Now, I know Echo dot has the feature to connect to Bluetooth speakers but my worry is if I connect it once,  it always be connected to my soundbar via bluetooth then I would not be able to hear Alexa at all coz most of the time my soundbar will be in Aux mode connected to my TV.

After your echo is paired to a Bluetooth speaker, you can say disconnect Bluetooth or connect Bluetooth to do what you want. If you forget to say that the echo will be in the connection state that you last used.

Thank you so much! I think that will solve my problem.

Just change the input on your soundbar. When it's set to Aux, the TV will play; when you change the input to BT, your Dot should automatically connect to it. Mine does exactly that.
