Title: Alexa "Tell" Command
Post by: BigIan279 on October 20, 2019, 04:47:32 am
I have four Echo Dots 3rd Gen and use the "tell" or "announcement" command all the time to contact me kids especially at dinner time.

However, I have noticed that when I use this command to a specific echo dot - say my daughter's, the announcement is broadcast on all 3 other echo dots.

How do I only make an announcement to one specific echo dot?

As far as  I know, the announce/tell is broadcast to every Echo device on your account. If you want to say something to one particular Echo, you need to use drop-in. Drop-in is 2-way conversation. But you can say hang up or stop to end the conversation.

Thanks jwlv  :)

I didn't know you could drop in, in fact, I'm sure there are loads of commands that Alexa can do that I don't know about. Is there a list of them somewhere?
