Title: Timed commands/events
Post by: Celeritas670 on December 02, 2016, 12:15:55 pm
I am hoping that in addition to some of the other timer requests we have seen (e.g. "Alexa, remind me in 30 minutes to call Bob"), we will eventually be able to ask Alexa to execute a command after a certain time.  For example, "Alexa, in 5 minutes turn off the living room lights".  How awesome this would be.

If you have a home automation system, create a scene that turns the lights off in 5 minutes, then ask Alexa to run the scene.

Timers with reminders would be great.  If you're cooking, and you have several timers going at once, it would be nice to have them alarm as something like,  "Turn off the oven" or "Add ingredients to the chicken".

Sounds like a great, useful addition.  Timed commands.  @kevb that sounds like a swell workaround for the particular example, but the benefit is getting Alexa to do the heavy lifting in entering the variables on the fly.

These requests for timers are made by people all the time on this forum, there are several threads regarding it. Make the request to Amazon specifically. They are the only ones that can change this.
