Echo Technical Support / Re: Green ring wonít go away on two Echos
« Last post by adelphiaUK on November 25, 2021, 10:47:06 am »
As per the Amazon page linked above, this typically means you are engaged in a call of some description. This could be a call by using the "Drop In" command or indeed by making an active call via your mobile phone. This second option requires your Alexa device to have permissions to read your contact list.

In either instance, the easiest way to do this is to use the "Hang Up" command and if that fails, the definitive "Stop All" or "Cancel All" commands usually works (the ALL is very important as it will send the Stop/Cancel command to ALL Alexa devices on your network).

Hope that helps but I'm guessing you probably already have it sorted.

PS: Unregisrering a device won't help. If it's on your network and associated with any skills or linked accounts you'd need to to a complete reset/setup.

Unfortunately that can't be done. A routine is enabled for every device on your account. You can't disable it for only certain devices. It's either on for everything or off for everything, and nothing in between.
Thank  you.

Actually, I discovered that first of all, the detailed settings are not available on the Windows version of Alexa. But if you go to the iphone Alexa app and if  you enter the routine itself and scroll to the bottom, you will find a "From" clause that specifies the device. You can create the same routine for each device you have in your account if you wish and if you wish to disable that routine, you can do so by swiping the "Enable/Disabled" button at the very top of the routine.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: How to Retain a Routine But Disable it on Individual Devices
« Last post by jwlv on November 24, 2021, 02:04:39 am »
Hello. I have a routine set up that vocalizes the current date and time. I see where the skill is set up and enabled. But what I can't seem to find is where it is enabled and set for each Echo device. I want to "turn it off" for certain devices but keep it running on others and be able to change the time. Can anyone help? Many thanks!

Interesting concept.  at least it is not a button this time.   I do not trust amazon with auto ordering.   Be my luck, they would pick a listing that has triple the price.

Smart Devices and Gadgets / Alexa isnt detecting Aqara motion sensors since Nov 17.....
« Last post by yosiraz on November 22, 2021, 04:25:39 pm »
Hi,

I have 17 Aqara motion detectors that worked perfectly with Alexa till Nov 17 2021. since this day 13 are not working well in Alexa anymore and only 4 are working well.

When Im checking the status of the motion detector under Alexa/Devices its telling me:
Motion detected Active since 09:35 on 17/11/2021 which is 6 days ago.
same message for all the 13 motion detectors.

When I'm checking the detectors in the Original Xiaomi app they are working fine and detecting fine.

Can you please help me solving this issue?

What I tried so far and didnít solve:
   1. I un-install and re-install Alexa
   2. I tried 4older Alexa version.
   3. I clean the app cache and data.
   4. I de-activated and re- activated the aqara skill
   5. I factory reset my router.
   6. I re-install the aqara motion senor to the aqara hub
        7. I factory reset my Alexa DOT 4th gen.

Remember Dash Buttons? A new version of it just showed up. Doomed for failure, yet Amazon just won't give up on Dash.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Reminders API in Alexa Skills Problem
« Last post by kuba.mika16 on November 22, 2021, 05:31:03 am »
Hello!
I am pretty new in developing Alexa Skills.
I'm creating an app, where you can check the time of your next bus on your nearest bus stop. When bus is near this bus stop, you get the reminder on your Echo and Alexa App. Everything works well on my account, on wich I created this app. The problem occured when I gave my Beta Skill to test it by someone else. When I use this app from my account everything works as it should, but when someone else tries to do it, there is an error. Permissions for this skill are already set up.
I was debugging my skill for hours, trying to check on witch line this error exists. It happens to be here "reminderApiClient.createReminder(reminderRequest);"

What I do is:

const reminderRequest = {
trigger: {
type: "SCHEDULED_RELATIVE",
offsetInSeconds: "15",
},
alertInfo: {
spokenInfo: {
content: [
{
locale: "en-GB",
text: "The Reminder",
},
],
},
},
pushNotification: {
status: "ENABLED",
},
};

let reminderApiClient = handlerInput.serviceClientFactory.getReminderManagementServiceClient();

await reminderApiClient.createReminder(reminderRequest);

exports.handler = Alexa.SkillBuilders.custom()
.addRequestHandlers(
...
)
.addErrorHandlers(ErrorHandler)
.withPersistenceAdapter(
new Adapter.DynamoDbPersistenceAdapter({
tableName: dynamoDBTableName,
})
)
.withApiClient(new Alexa.DefaultApiClient())
.lambda();

So As I said, weird thing is that on my primary account the skill is working correctly, but on the second account (where is beta test), reminder is giving me an error.
Any thoughts?

Amazon Echo Discussion / My Lowes shopping list

I ask Alexa to add "Paintable Caulk" to my Lowes list. When I got to the store and opened my list there was "Painful Cock" on my list. You can't say Alexa doesn't have a sense of humor.
