Amazon Echo Discussion / Re: Why Does Echo Device Demand a Reply

That kind of defeats the usefulness of Alexa in an Echo device!
Agreed, I don't use reminders but use routines for my reminder needs.
However I just looked at reminders and in the settings which I assume affects all reminders is a setting for announcement count you may have this set to persistant.

some features require a response to stop it.   Nothing you can do about it.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Why Does Echo Device Demand a Reply

My biggest problem with my Echo Show device is that I cannot tell it to remind me at a certain time without having it require me to respond to the reminder.  If I don't happen to be available at that time the Echo Show sort of goes crazy and gets louder and louder until I respond.

I would like to use my Echo Show without having to respond.  Any way to do that?

Thanks,
BillW

Amazon Echo Discussion / NFL logos on pops

Look like you can now purchase echo pops with NFL logos.    No longer have to purchase decals.

I have an Echo Show 5 that won't boot up. Do you know of any solutions for this device? I understand that they are very different devices, but I decided to ask for help because Amazon does not offer support for this type of problem. I have already tried using the device's own Factory Reset feature and without success.

the thread is seven years old.   Best to start your own.   You said amazon will not support it.   They will support it unless you made unauthorized modifications to it or it was reported stolen and bricked.    If you need help to get it to boot, and it's not stolen, you need to post more info as to the problem and because you posted in this thread, if you made any modification that could have caused it not to boot.

So in the meantime I managed to fix the Echo. Unfortunately it required a second Echo because I needed to dump the image of the main partition. The image can be dumped and written back to the Echo with the diag partition that is also present on the Echo. The image can be transfered via screen and the zmodem. This is rather slow which is why i would recommend compressing the image.

The image also seems to be somewhat region-gated? I tried the English image and it didn't fix the Echo. But a second German image did. In case anybody needs help debricking theirs, I'll be happy to help.

I am waiting before getting anything else right now.  I am waiting to see if there will be some sort of 10 year anniversary deal or new devices.

Amazon Echo Discussion / Echo Pop + Light Bulb $18

Pretty good deal right now on Amazon for the Echo Pop + Smart Light Bulb for only $18.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D8JXLP5Y

Limit of 1 per account. Current as of 9/29/2024.

I was debating whether I should get one. I guess I could use one in the garage for listening to music or whatnot when I'm working in there.

I have gotten rid of two shows and two firesticks because of the ads.   I had to keep one show for the ring doorbell.   Amazon is really going crazy with their ads.   They even started adding ads to their audible books.   They are starting out with ads at the end of the books and samples just like they did with prime years ago.   I am afraid it will soon become another prime, pay extra to stop the ads.
