hello, ill try to make this short, i won an echo show 5 at work, i opened the device and took out of the box to look at it and then put it in my car to take home but left the box at work, at home i forgot to bring it down from the car and the next morning someone had broken into my car and stole it.
i have the mac address and DSN that is on the box, my question is can i somehow disable the device so whichever scum bag stole it cant use it?

contact amazon and see what they can do.

I'd say you might be out of luck. You can't prove that you purchased it and you can't prove that you're the owner since it's never been registered to your account. A box really isn't much proof. I throw away boxes in the trash all the time. If someone picks up a box from my trash, that doesn't prove they are the owner. Perhaps the person responsible for purchasing it can prove ownership because it was purchased on their account.

You might work backwards to where you won it. Who managed the prizes (somebody organized the event. probably the admin for the department).
If they ordered it from Amazon, Amazon knows exactly what it is before you do. The buyer reports it stolen to Amazon and they brick it.
Same as if you'd ordered it yourself.
