Hi everyone. So far, am having a good time with Echo. Can't read about more tips and tricks. She has no issue playing a playlist that I specify, but I have to go to my actual app to pause it or turn it down or off. Any advice?

What exactly are you saying when you want the music to pause or stop?

Sometimes Echo cannot hear you well if the music is loud, so to turn it down, turn the large light ring on top. Now that the volume is down, tell it simply, "Alexa, stop." It darn well better stop playing. It is that easy.

Okay, I'll try that. Thanks!

Hi. I've said, "Alexa, stop playing." and "Alexa, stop."

If you get really mad you can say Alexa shut up and she'll stop anything she's doing.

So - I figured out what was wrong. It was upside down. :-)

Given that the Echo has a power cord attached to the bottom and a ring of lights and some buttons on top...how in the world did you manage to orient it upside down and not notice that was wrong?

This is one of the best "solutions" we will ever see in any user forum. A classic moment. So, don't press Stasey for more info. We are fortunate to "know the rest of the story" and an admission of guilty from Stasey. That took guts to admit.

Classic "IT Crowd" moment.

Agree! "Turn it off, and turn it back on!"
Or, in this case, "Turn it upright with light ring (and mics) on top!" Or better yet, RTFM. ;D

Maybe they need more colored pictures.😆 :smile2:

I stand corrected. Although that isn't much of a manual.

OK, other than the instruction card that comes with the Echo devices, the more complete "manual" is online here:

So take a moment and bookmark this link; I have posted it too many times here already.
